Lucy Dennis, 81, of rural Robinson, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. She was at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Willow Hill, IL on March 2, 1933, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Geraldine (Angle) Boyd. On June 25, 1954 she married Clifford Dennis and he survives.
Lucy attended Brush Creek Elementary School and graduated from Oblong High School Class of 1950. She was a homemaker and was a professional Child Care Provider for many years until she retired in 1994. Lucy worked at the Cheese Plant in Robinson, IL for 4 1/2 years. She was an active member of the Oblong Evangelical United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. She was involved in the Methodist Women’s organization at Central United Methodist and Zion-Oak Ridge Methodist Churches. She was also very active in the HCE (Home Community Education) a member of the TRY HARD HOMEMAKERS UNIT through the State of Illinois Home Extension Service. Lucy was a long-time volunteer at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Lucy enjoyed visiting shut-ins at various Nursing facilities and was, for some time, a volunteer Bingo caller at Cotillion Nursing Home.
Lucy will be missed by, not only family members, but by many of her personal contacts.
Survivors include her husband Cliff, of Robinson; her four sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Debbie Dennis of Grand Terrace, California; Carl and Claudia Dennis of Oblong, IL.; Richard Dennis of Richmond, Virginia; Larry Joe and Hope Dennis of Robinson, IL.; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three foster grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Rondel Lee and Sherry Boyd of Oblong, IL; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Mary K. Douglas of Robinson, IL and Carol S. and Earl Redmond of Johnstown, OH; two aunts and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
